Plateau roofs above the Green River valley

East Hill is not the Kent Valley floor. Downtown, the warehouses, and SR 167 sit below a steep west edge; the houses are up on a rolling plateau. Kent-Kangley Road, which WSDOT carries as SR 516, climbs out of the valley and meets SR 515 at 104th Avenue SE. From there the streets run past East Hill Elementary on SE 240th, Park Orchard on SE 232nd, and the woods around Clark Lake. Roofs up here take the same Pacific Northwest rain as the valley, plus more wind on the open hill and more shade where firs crowd a north slope.

Trustworthy Roofing is Trustworthy Construction LLC, a licensed, insured family crew based at 5506 112th Avenue East in Puyallup. We already run into Kent and the rest of King County for full roof replacement, leak repairs, gutter installs, gutter service, fascia board repair, and emergency tarp. If your house is on the hill, we will look at the roof and put the scope in writing before anyone starts a tear-off. Estimates are complimentary.

Why East Hill homeowners trust Trustworthy Roofing

  • Hill weather, not valley assumptions

A roof on the plateau is not the same job as a low building beside the Green River. We look at wind on the west rim, moss where Clark Lake and Soos Creek shade a slope, and gutters that fill with needles after a wet week.

  • Staging off Kent-Kangley

SR 516 and 104th Avenue SE are the busy way on and off the hill. We plan the trailer for your street or driveway so we are not sitting in that climb or blocking a neighbor’s apron on 108th.

  • Licensed local crew

Trustworthy Construction LLC is a licensed, insured Washington contractor and a CertainTeed ShingleMaster. You reach a family business at (253) 455-4347, and the same crew that writes the estimate does the work.

  • Kent paperwork when the city asks

The City of Kent says adding, repairing, or removing a roof needs a residential building permit. For a house or duplex, the city routes re-roofs through a Minor Work Permit with the Reroof subtype. We confirm your address is inside Kent and include that filing when the scope requires it.

Featured Pierce County replacement for East Hill shingle roofs

Architectural shingle roof replacement in Pierce County

This photo is an owned Pierce County roof replacement from our job library, not a stock image and not a geotagged East Hill address. It stands in for the architectural-shingle replacements we quote on the hill: a full tear-off to the deck, new underlayment and flashing, and a walkthrough before you pay. We are not assigning it a Kent street. The inspection stills above are a separate Auburn set that the catalog files with Kent.

What changes a roof on this hill

The climb off the valley

The west side of East Hill drops to the Green River valley. Chestnut Ridge Park, at 9901 S 203rd Street, is the city’s own description of that rim: a view over the valley, West Hill, and the Olympics. Houses along that edge see more wind than a sheltered court near Clark Lake. We pay attention to ridge cap and how the roof is fastened on those exposed planes.

East Hill shade and moss

Clark Lake Park is 154 acres of meadow and woods at SE 240th Street and 127th Avenue SE. Soos Creek Trail runs through wetlands and forest along the east side of the hill toward Lake Meridian. North slopes and tree cover hold moisture. Moss in the valleys, debris behind chimneys, and gutters packed with needles are the pattern we expect, not a surprise add-on.

Suburban streets, state-highway traffic

Most of the plateau is single-family streets, not a historic downtown block. The constraint is getting materials off Kent-Kangley and 104th without using the travel lane as a laydown yard. SE 208th near Kentridge and SE 240th near East Hill Elementary also mean school traffic. We set the schedule around that instead of assuming an empty cul-de-sac.

Rain, flashing, and fascia

A long wet season is the South Sound default. On East Hill that shows up as failed pipe boots, tired step flashing, and fascia that stays damp under overflowing gutters. We talk about shingles, underlayment, flashing, and ventilation we can see — and we repair fascia or gutters when the inspection says the roof alone will not keep the water off the walls.

Roof replacement cost in East Hill

An East Hill roof is priced after we see it. Pitch, layers, how exposed the west rim is, and whether the trailer fits on your street change the number more than a King County average would. We do not publish per-square ranges. You get a written estimate from the crew that will do the work, and the quote is free.

  • Pitch and stories

A low-pitch rambler on the plateau is a different setup than a two-story with several valleys facing the valley rim.

  • Tear-off layers

Older asphalt roofs sometimes carry more than one layer. Deck repairs show up after the tear-off. The proposal says how we handle that.

  • Hill access

Kent-Kangley, 104th, and school-hour streets can add time for material handling. We plan that into the schedule.

  • Flashings, gutters, fascia

Skylights, chimneys, mossy valleys, and rotted fascia next to packed gutters are common add-ons on these inspections.

Our East Hill roofing process

  1. 01

    East Hill site assessment

We walk the roof or look at planes we cannot safely stand on, and we note pitch, moss, flashing, and where a trailer can sit off Kent-Kangley or 104th.

  2. 02

    Written estimate and Kent permit

You get a proposal with materials and timeline. If the City of Kent requires a re-roof permit for a 1–2 unit home, we file the Minor Work Permit the city specifies.

  3. 03

    Tear-off and install

Crews protect the property, tear off to the deck, and install underlayment, flashing, and shingles. We are a CertainTeed ShingleMaster contractor.

  4. 04

    Cleanup on the plateau streets

Magnet sweep, debris hauled off, and driveways left usable on SE 208th, SE 240th, and the side streets between them.

  5. 05

    Walkthrough before payment

We walk the job with you. You pay when the work is complete and you are satisfied — the same process we use on every roof.

Nearby attractions

  • Clark Lake Park

The city’s 154-acre park at SE 240th Street and 127th Avenue SE, with meadow, woods, and a fishing pier. Houses along that canopy are why we look hard at moss and gutter volume on nearby roofs.

  • Chestnut Ridge Park

A small park at 9901 S 203rd Street on the west rim. The city describes the view over the Kent Valley, West Hill, and the Olympics — the same exposure that hits roofs along that edge.

  • Lake Meridian Park

Beach, dock, and boat launch at 14800 SE 272nd Street, on the southeast side of the hill. A landmark when we give directions for estimates toward the lake rather than the valley.

  • Soos Creek Trail

King County’s paved trail through wetlands and forest along Soos Creek, with access near SE 208th and toward Lake Meridian. The tree cover is the roofing issue: shade, needles, and wet valleys.

  • Kent Panther Lake Library

King County Library System’s branch at 20500 108th Avenue SE. KCLS built it as a tenant space on Kent’s East Hill and first called it the East Hill of Kent Library before the community renamed it.

Local living

East Hill students are in the Kent School District. Confirm your assignment with the district; the map is what matters, not a guess from the nearest steeple. Campuses that sit on this side of Kent include East Hill Elementary at 9825 S 240th Street, Park Orchard Elementary at 11010 SE 232nd Street, and Kentridge High School at 12430 SE 208th Street.

The drive on and off the hill is SR 516, Kent-Kangley Road, which WSDOT is planning to repave from the valley up to 104th Avenue SE. King County Metro serves stops the city notes near most parks. Holds and evening reading go to Kent Panther Lake Library on 108th. When a re-roof needs a permit, the paperwork starts on the City of Kent residential building permits page. We stage around school pickup and that highway instead of treating 104th like a quiet lane.

East Hill roofing questions

East Hill addresses inside the city follow Kent’s rules. The City of Kent says a residential building permit is required for adding, repairing, or removing roofs. For a house or duplex (1–2 units), the city tells you to apply as a Minor Work Permit with the Reroof subtype and Residential work type, and to list the materials coming off, the underlayment, the new materials, and the contractor’s Washington license number. We confirm the address and file when the scope requires it. If the house is actually outside city limits, that is a King County question instead.
